About the position

The Faculty position in Dental Hygiene at St. Louis Community College (STLCC) involves a range of professional responsibilities including curriculum development, teaching, and departmental planning. The role requires participation in both didactic and clinical instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to the overall educational mission of the college. This full-time faculty member will coordinate dental hygiene clinic and laboratory courses, ensuring high-quality education and adherence to accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in curriculum and course development.
  • Prepare course budgets and engage in departmental planning.
  • Attend departmental, campus, and college-wide meetings.
  • Participate in committees and student mentoring.
  • Provide instruction in laboratory, clinical, and didactic dental hygiene courses.
  • Coordinate or co-coordinate dental hygiene clinic and laboratory courses.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Dental Hygiene Program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time clinical Dental Hygiene experience.
  • Current Certification in Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Current Dental Hygiene licensure in Missouri with infiltration and block anesthesia and nitrous oxide certifications or eligible for licensure in Missouri.
  • Significant continuing education and professional development activities in dental hygiene education methodology.
  • Current membership in the American Dental Hygienists' Association.
  • Master's degree with at least thirty (30) approved graduate semester hours in education or subject field, or a Bachelor's degree with a major in subject field or education and dental hygiene college teaching experience.
  • Commitment to matriculate and complete a Master's degree in education or subject field within five (5) years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of full-time, or full-time equivalent, college teaching experience.
