About the position
Concordia University Wisconsin is seeking a full-time faculty member for its Department of English, starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will serve as a generalist, primarily teaching introductory composition and literature courses, with opportunities to teach upper-level courses in British literature, rhetorical theory, literary theory, technical and professional writing, or linguistics. The role emphasizes excellent classroom teaching, active participation in campus life, and engagement in scholarship, committee work, and advising.
Responsibilities
- Teach core courses such as Introduction to Writing and Topics in British Literature and Society.
- Teach upper-level courses based on expertise, including English language and linguistics and/or British literature.
- Foster a welcoming and encouraging community for all students.
- Collaborate with other English faculty in program assessment and course development.
- Fulfill expectations for peer-reviewed scholarship and service as outlined in the CUW Faculty Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in English (ABD may be considered).
- Specialties in Rhetoric and Composition, British Literature, and/or periods before 1800 preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work with diverse individuals and organizations.
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).
Nice-to-haves
