About the position

The Faculty Instructor for Digital Video & Cinema Production at Northwest Vista College is responsible for providing quality education to students in the field of digital video and cinema. This full-time position involves mentoring students, developing curriculum, and fostering a learning environment that aligns with the college's mission and values. The instructor will engage with students as a leader, teacher, adviser, and facilitator of learning, ensuring that they are well-prepared for careers in the production industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver curriculum for Digital Video & Cinema Production courses.
  • Mentor and advise students in their academic and professional pursuits.
  • Engage in professional development and stay current with industry trends.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the educational experience.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Video, Cinema Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the production industry.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students in filmmaking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience in commercial or agency work, corporate video, event videography, television, narrative film, or documentary.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment, tools, software, and workflows.
  • Experience working at a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), Minority-Serving Institution (MSI), or Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
