About the position

The management department at Salem State University is seeking applicants for a full-time, temporary faculty position in the field of hospitality for the academic year 2025-26. This role involves teaching courses primarily in Food and Beverage Management and Human Resources in Hospitality. Additionally, the faculty member may be required to teach an undergraduate introduction to business class, depending on departmental needs and student enrollment trends. While this is a temporary position, there is a possibility of renewal or conversion to a tenure-track position in future academic years, contingent upon departmental needs and funding availability. Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Food and Beverage Management and HR in Hospitality.
  • Possibly teach undergraduate introduction to business classes.
  • Advise students and provide mentorship.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department and university.
  • Fulfill duties in accordance with the MSCA contract.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Previous full- or part-time professional experience and/or teaching experience at the college level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated industry/research experience.
  • Advising and/or mentoring experience.
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and use technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) when teaching.
  • Experience in Latinx-related teaching, scholarship/research, and service.
