About the position

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Robotics at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This position is aimed at candidates focused on foundational research in robotics, with an anticipated start date as early as January 2025. The successful candidate will join the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE), which emphasizes experiential learning and has a strong track record in robotics research and competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain an independent, internationally recognized research program in robotics.
  • Engage in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in robotics and related fields.
  • Mentor and advise students in their academic and research pursuits.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners on robotics research projects.
  • Contribute to the department's service and outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctorate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, robotics engineering, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to develop and sustain an independent, competitive research program.

Nice-to-haves
