About the position

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Robotics at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This role is focused on foundational research in robotics and is anticipated to start in January 2025. The successful candidate will join the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering, which emphasizes experiential learning and has a strong track record in robotics competitions and research funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain an independent, internationally recognized and competitive externally-sponsored research program.
  • Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers across WVU campus and other institutions.
  • Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Perform professional service activities within and outside the university.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctorate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, robotics engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to develop a competitive research program.
  • Effective communication skills and a notable record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Evidence of potential to attract competitive research funding.
