About the position

The Faculty Research Analyst position at the Mack Institute for Innovation Management, Wharton, is designed for early-career professionals who are passionate about social science research, particularly in the fields of economics, energy, environment, and development. The successful candidate will support research conducted by Wharton economics professors Arthur van Benthem and Susanna Berkouwer, contributing to a cohort of predoctoral research fellows within the Department of Business Economics and Public Policy (BEPP). This role is ideal for highly qualified college graduates who are motivated to acquire the research skills, experience, and credentials necessary for applying to a full-time PhD program. The position is expected to last for one to two years, during which the candidate will engage in various research activities, including statistical and econometric analyses, data cleaning and analysis, writing research reports, conducting literature reviews, and managing field activities. The Mack Institute is committed to fostering an environment that supports cutting-edge research and the training of future management scholars. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn new technical skills, attend seminars, and take courses, with the potential to become a co-author on academic papers. Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of statistical and econometric analyses
  • Cleaning and analyzing data

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Previous experience as a research analyst or conducting independent research using statistical software such as STATA or R is preferred
  • Ability to analyze data and write reports
  • Self-directed, intrinsically motivated; capacity to manage work independently and organize workflows across multiple projects
