About the position

The College of Public Health at East Tennessee State University is seeking to recruit up to two full-time Faculty Research Associates to enhance and expand its Center for Rural Health Research. The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in supporting and collaborating on both quantitative and qualitative data analyses, developing and implementing analytic strategies, managing datasets, applying appropriate research methodologies, interpreting findings, and maintaining effective communication with project leaders and key partners. This position requires a collaborative approach, as the candidates will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of investigators, staff, project managers, and graduate assistants. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in health research, particularly in rural health and rural public health, innovative healthcare delivery approaches, and the evaluation of community-based organizations. A proven track record of collaboration with diverse stakeholders, along with demonstrated skills in designing and supporting innovative, high-quality research, intervention, or policy studies, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in analyzing large datasets and disseminating findings to a broad audience. Exemplary writing skills are crucial, and candidates will be required to provide examples of previously published manuscripts or project reports where they were the lead author or main contributor. While the position is funded through existing gifts and grants, candidates with experience in grant writing and the ability to secure external funding to further the initiatives of the Center for Rural Health Research are preferred. The salary for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience. The work environment is located in the scenic Appalachian Highlands of Tennessee, offering a moderate climate, no state income tax, and a family-friendly atmosphere with numerous outdoor activities available. The university provides a comprehensive range of benefits, including paid time off, health and life insurance, retirement plans, and access to university facilities and services.
