About the position

The Senior Director of Video Content Strategy at FMG is a senior leadership role focused on developing and executing a comprehensive video programming strategy across various brands. This position requires collaboration with editorial and business-side leadership to create engaging video content, including daily news, franchises, and custom productions. The ideal candidate will lead a team, manage operations, and ensure the video content aligns with the company's strategic goals while maximizing performance and monetization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with FMG Visual Director, Editor-in-Chief of WWD and Editorial Director of FN to develop a video strategy for their respective brands.
  • Lead the charge in executing the video strategy for the brands.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Events and Events team to develop and execute a video strategy.
  • Concept high-performing videos for cover shoots, celebrity interviews, and events with style director and staff editors.
  • Hire, direct, and manage a group of freelance editors and shooters.
  • Grow and manage the day-to-day operations of the video team while managing vendor relations and a department budget.
  • Work with the social media team on strategy to maximize video potential across all social platforms.
  • Handle the uploading of horizontal and vertical video on Connatix.
  • Write SEO-optimized editorial copy for videos on the site.
  • Skilled in tagging and positioning video content online and with syndication partners.
  • Edit quick-turnaround news videos for the sites and social.
  • Edit and shoot video alongside video editor and shooter on set and during live events.
  • Concept video series for distribution and monetization on different platforms.
  • Pull data on performance on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis and analyze and present to the staff.
  • Work closely with key corporate teams, such as SEO and Business Intelligence, to understand performance and evolve new program proposals according to feedback.
  • Foster a positive work environment and culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Focus on editing for optimal performance and monetization.
