About the position

Hachette Book Group's Fall internship program offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. This internship is specifically for the Marketing Intern position at Little, Brown, where interns will work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience. The program runs from mid-September to December 20, 2024, and is based in the New York office on a hybrid schedule, requiring interns to be on-site two days a week (Mondays and Tuesdays) while working from home on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Interns will be expected to work between 20 to 28 hours per week, with a pay rate of $16 per hour. A company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program. As a Marketing Intern, you will own day-to-day tasks, assist with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. This role is ideal for individuals interested in exploring a career in book publishing and marketing, and who are excited about discussing recent books they've read. Interns will have the chance to contribute insights and ideas while learning about the marketing of books. Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok is essential, along with strong communication skills and experience in creating graphics using software like Canva or Photoshop.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing marketing campaigns.
  • Research and contact influencers, then mail books/packages to them.
  • Suggest and contact potential brands to partner with.
  • Set up sweepstakes and mail prizes.
  • Create organic and engaging content for social media.
  • Take photos and film/edit videos.
  • Write captions and schedule content.
  • Create graphics for social media and for authors and retailer sites.
  • Update book pages and sections of the Hachette website.
  • Monitor retailer sites to ensure book and author data are accurate.
  • Maintain NetGalley and Goodreads, and manage the L,B Marketing Generic Inbox.
  • Perform administrative duties such as processing warehouse orders, tracking shipping, creating galley orders, scheduling meetings, and creating weekly reports.
