About the position

The Kroger Summer Internship Program is a 12-week immersive experience designed for students to enhance their careers through a variety of focused internship assignments. This program provides competitive pay, hands-on learning experiences, exposure to senior leaders, and opportunities for professional development. Interns will spend their summer leading projects, refining their professional skills, and working alongside industry leaders while connecting with other students from across the country. Interns in the Supply Chain and Manufacturing sectors will have the opportunity to work within the Corporate Supply Chain team and various operational departments that comprise Kroger's supply chain, including Human Resources, Operations, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Transportation, Maintenance, Safety, Inventory, Information Technology, and Store Operations. Throughout the internship, participants are expected to model and demonstrate the company's core values, which include respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Applicants must have work authorization that does not require future sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States. This includes individuals on H1-B visas, F-1 visas (OPT), TN visas, or any other non-immigrant status. The internship is open to all majors, provided that candidates are actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple supply chain projects while adhering to timelines.
  • Communicate status and any potential risks/issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Assist with the documentation of supply chain processes and best practices.
  • Assist in the creation of process improvement projects.
  • Conduct supply chain analysis.
  • Actively seek and recommend new supply chain project opportunities.
  • Assist with project risk, develop plans and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to elicit, analyze, document and deliver supply chain solutions.
  • Complete cumulative project (summary of internship accomplishments) and present to executive team or appropriate manager(s).

Requirements

  • Open to all majors, must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Must have work authorization that does not require future sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.
  • Highly motivated student with the desire to take initiative on their own work.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in groups or independently.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present information to various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities between school, work, or extra-curricular activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information and apply it to business needs.
  • Commitment to providing customer service.
  • Involvement in leadership and community activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be a team player and a team builder.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
