About the position

The Family and Community Health Program Coordinator is a full-time professional faculty position at Oregon State University, located in Central Point, Oregon. This role involves leading and managing community health programs focused on public health, nutrition, food systems, and physical activity. The coordinator will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs aimed at enhancing food security and promoting active living in Jackson and Josephine counties. The position requires effective communication, volunteer management, and a commitment to inclusive and equitable programming.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with community-based Extension faculty and others to design, implement, and evaluate effective Family and Community Health (FCH) programs.
  • Disseminate program research to diverse audiences using various teaching techniques and delivery strategies.
  • Develop and utilize a program advisory committee to identify program needs and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of learning by ensuring assessments and programming are informed by community needs.
  • Develop community partnerships to create innovative and culturally responsive programming.
  • Create accessible environments and provide reasonable accommodations for diverse learner needs.
  • Deliver non-credit research-based educational programs focusing on food safety and physical activity.
  • Provide leadership for food security and safety and physical activity volunteer programs.
  • Supervise volunteer activities to ensure compliance with OSU policies and positive program impact.
  • Develop marketing tools to increase program awareness and participation from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences.
  • General proficiency with computers and professional office software.
  • Interest in food preservation and food safety.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with a diverse audience.
  • Commitment to collaborative and respectful learning environments.
  • Ability to lead groups and work as a team member with other professionals and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage volunteer programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience developing community educational programs.
  • Culinary training or Master Food Preserver certification.
  • Experience developing and leading physical activity programs.
