About the position

The Family and Community Service Worker plays a crucial role in supporting families and children in the Early Head Start/Head Start Program. This position focuses on building strong partnerships with families and the community, ensuring safe and engaging environments for children, and promoting equitable practices to reduce achievement gaps. The worker is responsible for various administrative tasks, documentation, and collaboration with community agencies to enhance family and child development.

Responsibilities

• Create strong family and community partnerships built on trust, respect, and acceptance.
• Complete the Family Partnership Agreement and EHS/HS Transition School Readiness Plan process.
• Build and maintain exceptional relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Ensure fidelity of the parenting curriculums (Conscious Discipline and Systematic Effective Parenting).
• Collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and school districts.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of supportive services and referrals.
• Collect, review, approve, and advance Non-Federal Funds.
• Recruit eligible children for enrollment into the Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
• Identify and guide continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Sufficient strength and flexibility to perform physical tasks as needed.
• Pass a general physical examination, up-to-date MMR and Tdap vaccinations, and TB screening at the time of hire.
• Clear criminal background check and compliance with Department of Children & Family Services Licensing Standards.
