About the position

The Family Educator in Home Visitation Services at Sunbeam Family Services provides comprehensive family and child development services to expectant mothers and children aged birth to 3 through home visits and group socialization experiences. This role focuses on building supportive relationships with parents and guardians, offering developmental guidance, and enhancing early relational health. The Family Educator is responsible for planning and conducting home visits, developing lesson plans, and collaborating with families to promote optimal child development and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide developmentally sensitive, trauma-informed, evidence-based services to families.
  • Collaborate with parents to plan weekly home visits and lesson plans.
  • Set developmental goals with parents and facilitate parent-child interactions.
  • Utilize materials found in the home to support curriculum implementation.
  • Maintain weekly contact with parents and document all services in Child Plus.
  • Develop individual lesson plans based on goals identified by parents.
  • Schedule and conduct socialization events twice monthly for families.
  • Create Individual Family Partnership Agreements with families.
  • Provide evening home visits as needed to accommodate family schedules.
  • Collaborate with content coordinators to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Facilitate communication among caregivers, ECS, and community partners.
  • Create Transition Plans for children moving from home-based to center-based services.
  • Maintain individual and family files for documentation and assessment purposes.
  • Stay current in the child development field for professional development.
  • Establish a reflective relationship with the Home Based supervisor for feedback and support.
  • Communicate and translate for bilingual families during services.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Child Development, Family Studies, or related field.
  • Experience working directly with at-risk families for at least one year.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license and state-required vehicle insurance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer operations and applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Home Visitation Child Development Credential (CDA) or willingness to complete it within one year.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft software applications.
