About the position

The Family Engagement Assistant at Sunbeam Family Services plays a crucial role in supporting Early Childhood Services (ECS) programs by managing eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance for Early Head Start/Head Start eligible families. This seasonal position involves collaboration with various coordinators and staff to implement family engagement activities and ensure compliance with program standards. The role requires a commitment to cultural sensitivity and excellence in service delivery, reflecting the organization's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and collaborate with coordinators and staff in the Early Childhood Services programs.
  • Manage the eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) system for Early Head Start/Head Start eligible families.
  • Coordinate and document activities of the ECS EHS/HS Policy Council/Policy Committee.
  • Oversee the implementation of Family Engagement activities, including Parent Committee opportunities.
  • Attend local, state, and regional initiatives, meetings, conferences, and trainings to represent the ECS program.
  • Ensure Family Advocates identify family goals, strengths, and necessary services throughout the year.
  • Ensure completion of child health screenings and assessments in consultation with Family Engagement Coordinator and Supervisors.
  • Coordinate Family Child Reviews (FCRs) meetings with appropriate staff as needed.
  • Maintain required documentation and ensure all family files are current.
  • Work with the ERSEA Team to manage enrollment levels and analyze attendance data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Effective experience as a leader working directly with at-risk families.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English speaking ability.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and state/local child care licensing requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer operations and applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience working with high-risk, low-income communities.
