About the position

The Family Event Planner Manager is responsible for overseeing event planning operations and managing day-to-day activities related to creating customized receptions and memorial events. This role focuses on supporting the company's mission of celebrating lives and building lasting relationships with families through effective event management and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Event Planning operations and day-to-day activities.
  • Identify catering partners and develop menu offerings and customization processes.
  • Obtain competitive bids for services from vendors such as caterers and equipment rental companies.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct training for service directors on handling catered and hosted events.
  • Plan on-site or off-site community events and associate meetings in collaboration with leadership.
  • Contribute ideas for event themes, venues, catering, and promotional items.
  • Contact third-party event providers to schedule and review event arrangements.
  • Ensure events are executed on time, smoothly, and within budget.
  • Oversee preparation and cleanup of events and equipment.
  • Coordinate staff work and time-off schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Gather data for annual budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Develop a strong and reliable team, addressing issues and providing feedback.
  • Screen candidates and manage hiring or promotions of staff.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or Management preferred.
  • At least five (5) years' Event Planning and vendor management experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
