About the position

The Family/Health Services Worker plays a crucial role in supporting Head Start and State Preschool families by providing case management and facilitating access to various services. This position involves ongoing communication with families to assess their needs and strengths, assisting them in setting and achieving family goals, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive support. The worker is responsible for recruiting families to ensure they receive necessary services and is evaluated by the program supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing communication with Head Start/State Preschool families.
  • Perform case management for families needing services such as health, nutrition, and social services.
  • Assist families in developing family goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Recruit families to ensure they receive necessary services for success.
  • Collaborate with program management and teaching staff to support family needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Social Work or a related field, or possess a Family Development Credential.
  • Valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance.
  • Effective oral communication skills in English and designated second languages.
  • Fluency in reading and conversing in designated second languages.
  • Volunteer or paid experience in a Head Start/State Preschool or similar program.
  • Successful completion of the Garvey School District Application Screening Process and district Written and Bilingual Tests.
  • Completion of a Criminal Records Check prior to starting work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and one or more of the following languages: Cantonese/Mandarin, Spanish, or Vietnamese.
