About the position
The Family Intervention Specialist at Youth Villages is responsible for providing intensive home-based therapy to families, particularly those at high risk of youth removal from their homes. This role involves working closely with a small caseload of families to help maintain youth in their home environment through structured family sessions and support. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of families and involves travel to various locations for in-home counseling.
Responsibilities
- Carry a small caseload of 4-6 families.
- Hold family sessions with each family three times a week, scheduled at the convenience of the families.
- Conduct three supervision meetings a week.
- Utilize web-based documentation, including voice recognition technology in most locations.
- Provide rotating on-call availability to families during the week and on weekends.
- Drive up to 60-80 miles to meet with families in their homes.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in a social services discipline is preferred with one year of experience working with youth or families.
- A Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline is required with two years of experience working with youth or families.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
