About the position

The Family Law Paralegal position at our leading law firm in Austin, Texas, is a full-time, salaried role that offers a hybrid work schedule. This position is designed for an experienced paralegal who will work closely with attorneys to support clients in family law matters. The paralegal will be responsible for preparing legal documents, corresponding with clients, and assisting attorneys in various legal proceedings. This role requires a solid understanding of Texas Family Law and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and court orders
  • Correspond with clients and prepare spreadsheets/documents for Inventory and Appraisement and Proposed Support Decision
  • File pleadings with court clerks
  • Coordinate delivery of subpoenas to witnesses and parties
  • Conduct intake calls with potential new clients and prepare attorneys for initial consultations
  • Assist attorneys with mediations, depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences
  • Draft discovery requests, calendar due dates, and prepare correspondence to opposing counsel/parties
  • Help clients comply with discovery requests and compile requested documents

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Texas Family Law
  • Solid understanding of the Texas Family Code and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software, technology, and techniques
  • Creativity, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Undergraduate degree preferred but not required
  • Paralegal certificate or certification preferred but not required
