About the position

The Law Office of Jennifer Casey is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our dedicated team in The Woodlands, TX. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Paralegal Certification and have a minimum of three years of experience specifically in family law. This role requires a strong understanding of family law processes, including but not limited to divorces, SAPCRs (Suit Affecting Parent-Child Relationship), modifications, and enforcement actions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a docket that includes these cases for several attorneys, ensuring that all documents are organized, entered, and cross-referenced electronically. In this position, you will be tasked with obtaining, assembling, and organizing documents that are pertinent to litigation. You will prepare discovery requests and responses, assist in the preparation of statements and witnesses, and support counsel with special projects as needed. A critical aspect of this role involves conducting thorough research and analysis of statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources, providing written analyses to attorneys to aid in case preparation. Proficiency in billing time is also required, as accurate timekeeping is essential in a legal environment. We are looking for a team player who is also an individual self-starter, capable of working independently while contributing positively to the team dynamic. Excellent research and communication skills are essential, along with a proficient knowledge of drafting legal documents and discovery materials. Responsibilities

  • Manage a docket consisting of Divorces, SAPCR's, Modifications, and Enforcements for several Attorneys.
  • Organize, enter, and cross-reference documents electronically.
  • Obtain, assemble, and organize documents pertinent to litigation.
  • Prepare discovery requests and responses.
  • Assist in the preparation of statements and witnesses.
  • Assist counsel with organizing and carrying out special projects.

  • Proficiency in billing time.

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certification and/or minimum of 3 years' experience in Family Law.
  • Excellent research and communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of drafting documents and discovery.
  • Positive and supportive attitude.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
