About the position

As a Family Law Paralegal at Gravis Law, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of our legal services. This position involves a variety of paralegal and administrative tasks within a collaborative team-oriented culture. You will assist with case planning, development, and management, which includes conducting legal research, maintaining client communication, drafting and filing legal documents, and making recommendations to attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for Family Law, which encompasses areas such as dissolutions, adoptions, parenting plans, and guardianships. Your motivation to create a pleasant workplace will be essential in this role. In this position, you will manage attorney dockets to ensure that all deadlines are met promptly. You will review files and confer with attorneys to discuss the status of cases and upcoming deadlines. Assisting attorneys in preparing for client meetings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trial, and trial will be a significant part of your responsibilities. You will draft various legal documents, including letters, briefs, memorandums, and discovery materials, and handle the filing and e-filing of these documents. Maintaining both electronic and physical client files is crucial, as is regular communication with clients to keep them informed about their cases. Additionally, you will conduct legal research and draft necessary documents while providing top-notch legal products and superior service to clients. You may also be required to cover the front desk and phones when necessary, ensuring that clients and office visitors receive prompt and professional service. Maintaining a well-respected reputation among clients, opposing counsel, judges, court staff, and colleagues is vital. You will also be expected to perform any other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Managing attorney dockets to ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing files and conferring with attorneys to discuss the status of the file as well as upcoming deadlines.
  • Assisting attorneys with preparing for client meetings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trial, trial, etc.
  • Drafting letters, briefs, memorandums, discovery and other legal documents.
  • Filing and e-filing briefs, memorandums, discovery and other legal documents.
  • Maintaining client files both electronic and physical files.
  • Communicating with clients on a very regular basis.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting.
  • Efficiently providing top-notch legal products and superior service to clients.
  • Covering the front desk and phones when necessary to ensure that clients and other office visitors receive prompt and professional service.
  • Maintaining a well-respected reputation amongst clients, opposing counsel, Judges, Court staff, and colleagues.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college graduate with bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of Paralegal experience (Family Law knowledge preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the phone and through written communications.
  • Computer proficiency (MS-Office- Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
