About the position

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant at Brighter Beginnings is responsible for providing direct patient care and performing administrative duties under the supervision of the Director of Primary Care & Quality. This part-time role focuses on delivering comprehensive primary care services, including patient assessments, treatment plans, and health education, while ensuring compliance with medical protocols and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete patient history, physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment plans for primary, secondary, and tertiary care services.
  • Communicate care plans and results of diagnostic studies to patients or guardians.
  • Organize and deliver health education for patients, including preventative health information.
  • Coordinate patient referrals for specialized health care.
  • Review patient files, including allergies, medications, and immunization status.
  • Order and execute various tests and diagnostic images.
  • Analyze reports and findings to diagnose patient conditions.
  • Administer or prescribe treatments and medications based on patient conditions.
  • Provide prenatal and postnatal care to mothers and infants.
  • Perform minor surgeries and other medical procedures as needed.
  • Communicate with the Medical Doctor regarding patient care quality issues.
  • Conduct Clinical Pertinence Chart Review studies to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Use technology tools for research, data entry, and communication.
  • Meet all clinical obligations and comply with regulations and internal policies.
  • Complete patient charts and submit medical bills daily.

Requirements

  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant in California.
  • National Licensure for Nurse Practitioner with the ability to sign prescriptions.
  • Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Board Certification requirement.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current DEA Certification.
  • Valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Knowledge of appropriate patient care rationale.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with co-workers and health team members.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, data entry, and business email.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a nonprofit healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or other languages.
