About the position

DispatchHealth Management is seeking Family Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants with acute care experience to join our dedicated team serving the Kansas City community. Our Advanced Practice Providers work alongside DispatchHealth Medical Technicians (DHMTs) to deliver comprehensive healthcare services directly in patients' homes. This innovative model allows us to provide definitive care for a wide range of injuries and illnesses, from common ailments to complex medical conditions, through thorough health assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients of all ages. Our providers are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to perform point-of-care laboratory studies, conduct minor procedures, and administer treatments such as splinting, wound care, suturing, and IV fluid and medication administration. We pride ourselves on delivering whole-person care, ensuring timely follow-up and effective care coordination to enhance patient outcomes. Our team members appreciate the high-quality care they can provide and the positive impact they have on their patients' lives. As part of our clinical care team, you will work collaboratively with DHMTs and independently as needed, delivering care through various service lines, including Acute Care, Bridge Care, Advanced Care, and Tele-presentation. This role involves traveling to patients' homes in a company vehicle, performing comprehensive health assessments, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and educating patients and their families on managing their health. You will also engage in critical conversations regarding end-of-life issues and goals of care, ensuring compassionate and culturally competent care is provided at all times. Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a clinical care team with a DHMT (Medical Technician) and individually to deliver care in the patient's home.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments and diagnose and treat complex illnesses.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, such as splinting, suturing, wound care, and minor procedures.
  • Use critical thinking skills and follow evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document patient encounters and ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze test data to diagnose, treat, and arrange appropriate follow-up for patients.
  • Educate patients and families on how to treat their acute illness and manage their health and well-being.
  • Effectively navigate difficult conversations related to end-of-life issues and goals of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family, medical power of attorney, primary care provider, and all individuals involved in the patient's care.
  • Identify and proactively solve problems.
  • Adhere to clinical and safety standards, protocols, and performance metrics.
  • Provide care with compassion, empathy, and cultural competency.
  • Maintain positive relationships with DHMT partners and remote teams.
  • Attend training sessions and clinical team meetings.
  • Maintain professional etiquette and serve as ambassadors for DispatchHealth.
  • Lead your practice and always do what's right for the patient.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Hospital, Family Practice, Cardiac, Pulmonary or other relevant areas.
  • Graduate with an advanced degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Nationally board certified, current.
  • Current BLS required, ACLS certification preferred.
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Complete required drivers training upon hire.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs easily.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in telehealth or virtual care delivery.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate with diverse patient populations.
