About the position

The Family Resource Navigator (FRN) position at Impact NW is designed to support families, particularly those of color, in overcoming barriers and enhancing self-sufficiency. The FRN will work closely with families to help them navigate various support systems, ensuring that students can learn and families can thrive. This role involves collaboration with school staff and community partners to connect families with essential resources and provide skill-building opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the SUN CS site manager to support family engagement strategies.
  • Work with school administrators and community partners to identify families needing additional support.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine eligibility for financial support and services.
  • Provide case management supports for food, rent, utility, public benefits, and employment resources.
  • Lead group skill-building workshops for parents and reduce language barriers.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
  • Utilize person-centered and trauma-informed assessments to identify client needs.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and present program information comprehensively.
  • Communicate agency policies, mission, values, and decisions effectively to stakeholders.
  • Meet performance standards regarding quantity, timeliness, and quality of work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of work or volunteering in social work or a related field, or lived experience.
  • One year of experience working with families and individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness.
  • Sensitivity and ability to relate to diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a strength-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered support model.
  • Ability to relate to communities of color and Impact NW's diverse community of staff and volunteers.
  • Confidence and resourcefulness in crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Possession of consistent professional boundaries and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License and up-to-date Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
