About the position

Impact NW is seeking Family Resource Navigators (FRN) to work as part of the SUN Community School staff team. The role focuses on supporting families, particularly those of color, by reducing barriers and promoting self-sufficiency to enhance student learning and family well-being. The FRN will collaborate with various stakeholders to connect families with essential resources and provide skill-building opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the SUN CS site manager to support family engagement strategies.
  • Work with school administrators and community partners to identify families needing support.
  • Connect families to resources addressing their universal household needs.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine eligibility for financial support and services.
  • Provide case management supports for navigating food, rent, utility, public benefits, and employment resources.
  • Lead group skill-building workshops for parents and reduce language barriers.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
  • Utilize person-centered and trauma-informed assessments to identify client needs.
  • Support and encourage clients' self-advocacy.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and present program updates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with health providers and case managers.
  • Communicate agency policies and values to staff and the community.
  • Meet performance standards regarding work quality and timeliness.
  • Participate in mandatory trainings and represent the department at community groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of work or volunteering in social work or a related field, or lived experience.
  • One year of experience working with families experiencing poverty, homelessness, or long-term disabilities.
  • Sensitivity and ability to relate to diverse lifestyles and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a strength-based, trauma-informed support model.
  • Ability to relate to communities of color and diverse staff and volunteers.
  • Confidence and resourcefulness in crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Possession of professional boundaries, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and up-to-date Vehicle Insurance.
