About the position

The Family Resource Supervisor at Volunteers of America Alaska plays a crucial role in supporting case managers and care coordinators in their efforts to empower youth and families. This position combines mentorship and leadership, focusing on community engagement and relationship-building to provide essential resources and support networks. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing program operations, ensuring compliance with standards, and delivering direct services to families, all while promoting the organization's core values of connection, responsibility, courage, innovation, hope, and joy.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support family services staff, providing comprehensive orientation and continued training.
  • Develop individual growth plans and conduct performance evaluations for staff.
  • Monitor compliance with agency and governing body standards, including Division of Behavioral Health and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Act as a resource bridge, linking team members with essential community services.
  • Oversee support groups and psychoeducational sessions, managing staff schedules to align with program objectives.
  • Build knowledge of kinship care and family wellness, participating in training and research.
  • Provide a minimum of 8 hours per week of direct service to families in various settings.
  • Connect families with essential resources for health, housing, education, and wellness.
  • Plan and facilitate support groups and educational workshops to enhance family engagement.
  • Monitor key metrics for program growth and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a similar field with experience in case management and coordination of services.
  • Two years' experience in social work or a similar field with case management experience.
  • Experience using strength-based case management and knowledge of Trauma Informed Care or willingness to be trained.
  • Excellent communication skills for group facilitation in virtual or in-person settings.
  • Strong commitment to inclusivity and supporting multi-cultural communities.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and other collaboration technologies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community service coordination.
  • Knowledge of Trust Based Relational Intervention and Strengthening Families frameworks.
