About the position

The Family Service Worker for Foster Care at Children's Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL) plays a crucial role in supporting children and families involved in the Foster Care and Intact programs. This position focuses on facilitating reunification and maintaining relationships through supervised visitations, as well as providing transportation for various appointments. The role is integral to helping families achieve their service plan goals and ensuring the well-being of children in care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the Foster Care and Intact programs through various interactions.
  • Assist with reunification and maintenance of relationships via supervision of parent/child and sibling visitations.
  • Provide transportation for appointments, including medical and counseling visits.
  • Work directly with children, foster parents, and natural parents to offer supportive services.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to achieve service plan goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school education.
  • Related work experience with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and youth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a treatment team.
  • Professional, diplomatic, and confidential handling of job-related matters.
  • Hearing and speaking ability for effective communication.
  • Must be 21 years or older to meet agency requirements.
  • Ability to transport self and clients, requiring a valid IL driver's license and insurance.
  • Ability to lift children and/or infant carriers in and out of vehicles.
  • Physical and emotional stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.
