About the position

The Family Service Worker (FSW) at Youth Villages plays a crucial role in providing services to youths and families placed in custody by the Department of Children Services (DCS) in Tennessee. This position involves case management, monitoring legal and permanency aspects of cases, and ensuring that the medical, dental, and educational needs of the children are met. FSWs work flexibly in various settings, including homes and schools, and are responsible for creating and overseeing permanency plans for their cases.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Department of Children Services (DCS) to provide services to youths and families.
  • Serve as a guardian for youths, ensuring compliance with DCS policies.
  • Monitor cases from a legal and permanency perspective.
  • Create and monitor permanency plans for adequate services and assistance.
  • Manage 15-20 cases, providing intensive support as needed.
  • Deliver services in various locations, including homes and schools, on a flexible schedule.
  • Ensure all medical, dental, and educational needs of the children are met.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation online.
  • Participate in regular meetings with supervisors to discuss progress and personal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social service discipline (e.g., social work, psychology, criminal justice).
  • Preferred experience in case management, foster care, and DCS.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for work purposes and liability insurance.
  • Acceptable driving record with three or fewer moving violations in the past 36 months.
