About the position

The Family Support Specialist role focuses on providing in-home intervention and support to children and their families in Pottawattamie and surrounding counties. The position aims to empower families to overcome challenges through quality services and collaborative efforts with community partners. The specialist will act as a resource and advocate for families, ensuring child welfare and promoting effective solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home intervention to children and their families utilizing skill-based, evidence-based practices.
• Act as a resource, provider, and advocate for families to promote child welfare.
• Utilize collaborative documentation in service delivery.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners including DHHS, medical providers, and school officials.
• Maintain an appropriate level of direct contact with families per program requirements and remain available for crisis intervention 24/7.
• Ensure professionalism through role modeling and respect.
• Utilize own vehicle to travel to work destinations and transport youth as authorized.
• Report and document emergencies and critical incidents involving clients or staff.
• Participate actively in individual, group, and organizational supervision/training.

Requirements

• Associate of Arts degree
• Two years of full-time experience in human services
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of community resources and service providers in the geographical area
• Maintain on-call availability as needed to respond to crisis.

Nice-to-haves
