About the position

The Family Support Specialist at Resilient Roots Family Wellness Center plays a crucial role in supporting families affected by behavioral health challenges, particularly those impacted by opioid use. This position involves building trusting relationships with families, conducting needs assessments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized support plans. The specialist will also advocate for families, connect them to essential resources, and provide education and training on behavioral health and parenting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with families and caregivers through regular communication and home visits.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify family strengths, challenges, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized family support plans in collaboration with families and the behavioral health team.
  • Connect families with community resources, services, and support networks in Rutherford and surrounding counties.
  • Assist families in navigating systems such as healthcare, education, and social services.
  • Provide information and guidance on accessing financial assistance, housing, and other essential services.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of families and children within various systems and settings.
  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance to families in crisis.
  • Facilitate support groups and workshops for parents and caregivers to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Work closely with clinicians, case managers, and other professionals as needed to support family goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss family progress and coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions and services provided.
  • Educate families about behavioral health conditions, treatment options, and other aspects of child development and parenting.
  • Provide training on parenting techniques, stress management, and effective communication.

Requirements

  • TDMHSAS Family Support Specialist Certification (required)
  • 2+ years of experience in a behavioral health or social services setting
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field (preferred)
