The Family Visitation Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting youth and families facing challenges such as drug and alcohol addiction, domestic abuse, and behavioral issues. This position involves transporting youth and supervising visits between them and their biological parents, ensuring safety and positive interactions during these visits. The specialist is part of a dedicated team at Boys Town, working to create life-changing and lifesaving experiences for families in need.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of the youth during transportation and visitation with biological family.
• Transports youth in and around the service area to and from visit locations, ensuring punctuality for scheduled visits.
• Supervises visits to ensure safety and that conversations remain positive and appropriate.
• Observes and assesses behaviors of all parties during visits, guiding or redirecting as necessary.
• Maintains and organizes documentation of each supervised visit and transportation.
• Communicates with appropriate staff regarding issues that arise with each case.
• Develops working relationships with youth and families, assisting parents in constructive interactions with their children.
• Identifies when to intervene and redirect during visits as needed.
• Responds on short notice to substitute for supervised visits or fulfill urgent requests for transportation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• At least 1 year of full-time experience in human services.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record and ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed).
• Must meet auto insurance requirements and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
• Availability for on-call support.
