About the position

The Farm Associate position at Aviagen involves the overall care, bio-security, and husbandry of poultry within the facilities. The role is essential for maintaining high-quality standards and efficient operations by following company guidelines and procedures. Farm Associates are responsible for daily activities that ensure the well-being of the poultry and the cleanliness of the farm environment.

Responsibilities

• Feed and restock for the following day.
• Pick up and incinerate mortality.
• Humanely euthanize birds that cannot access feed/water.
• Walk in the chicken house multiple times a day to gather floor/slat eggs on breeder farms.
• Gather and sort eggs, putting them in the cooler at the proper intervals on breeder farms.
• Perform routine maintenance.
• Maintain a clean farm both inside and outside.
• Shower in/shower out and follow all biosecurity procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
• Fluent in Spanish/English.
• Routine handling and interacting with live poultry.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Standing for extended periods of time (6 hours).
• Grip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists.
• Bend and stoop repetitively throughout the shift.
• Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments.
• Strong sense of personal responsibility.
• Take accountability for individual performance.
• Withstand ongoing presence of farm-related smells or foul odors.
• Extreme climate exposure both hot and cold.
• Working in damp and/or wet climate.
