About the position

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Farm Foreman for a progressive Farm and Livestock operation located in Colorado. This company operates a highly progressive Dairy and Farming operation on the Front Range of Colorado and is looking for a qualified individual to serve as a "right hand man" to the Farm Manager. The ideal candidate will have a neat appearance and a strong desire to not only show up but to be a productive member of the team. The position requires experience and understanding of precision equipment, as the duties will vary with the seasons. Therefore, it is crucial for the candidate to have the ability to adapt and maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple demands of the farm. The Farm Foreman will be responsible for assisting with various farming activities including planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, and storing crops. Knowledge of farming equipment is essential, including understanding its functions, capabilities, and limitations. The candidate will be expected to continually inspect the condition of the equipment, perform daily maintenance, and ensure it is prepared for its intended use. Additionally, the role involves overseeing irrigation activities, managing crop storage, and ensuring that environmental records are kept accurately. The candidate must be self-motivated, take pride in their work, and possess good problem-solving skills to effectively support the Farm Manager and the overall operation of the farm.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, and storing of crops.
  • Be knowledgeable of farming equipment functions, capabilities, and constraints.
  • Perform daily maintenance on farming equipment and ensure it is prepared for use.
  • Oversee irrigation activities and implement feedback systems to minimize downtime.
  • Harvest and store crops to meet cattle and dairy production goals.
  • Help oversee the application of dry manure and compost to fields.
  • Manage the storage, handling, and application of dairy effluent water through center pivots.
  • Keep environmental records on farming activities, precipitation, pond levels, and solid application.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of current experience in row crop production and working with large farm equipment.
  • Plant through harvest experience preferred.
  • Experience and current understanding of precision GPS equipment.
  • Ability to handle routine maintenance and general repair of equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Strong time management skills to accomplish daily tasks in a timely manner.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Commitment, loyalty, and honesty with a long-term career intent.
  • Good attitude, self-motivated, and willingness to jump in when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with precision GPS equipment is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are preferred.
