About the position

The Farm/Irrigation/Livestock Worker position involves performing a variety of tasks related to the production of crops and livestock in the Filer, Idaho area. The role requires physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and operating farm machinery, and may involve working split or straight shifts based on crop demands. The position is seasonal, with a specified employment period from January 15, 2025, to November 14, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements, tractors, and equipment to till soil and disc.
  • Make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery.
  • Remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds.
  • Remove rocks from fields and replace/repair fencing.
  • Perform general cleanup of farm areas and unload trucks.
  • Bag agricultural products and operate motor bikes or all-terrain vehicles as needed.
  • Connect pipes for hand irrigation, check alignment, and adjust for proper water distribution.
  • Turn on pumps and valves to start water flow and disassemble lines as required.
  • Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustained basis.
  • Start gasoline engines and operate controls for wheel lines and pivots.
  • Perform flood irrigation tasks, including lifting gates and shoveling dirt to direct water flow.
  • Observe and adjust revolving sprinklers for proper operation and uniform water distribution.
  • Disassemble, service, and store irrigation equipment after the season.
  • Herd and confine livestock in stalls or chutes.

Requirements

  • 20 days of experience with farm, irrigation, or livestock work.
  • Ability to obtain a valid driver's license for driving on public roads.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
