About the position

The Farm Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the physical structures of company buildings, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role involves preventative maintenance on farm equipment, troubleshooting and repairing various systems, and performing general mechanical work. The technician will also assist other departments as needed and must adhere to safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on farm equipment.
• Identify and document parts needed for projects to maintain equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair potable water and ventilation systems.
• Maintain and repair farm equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Perform general mechanical work including installation, fabrication, and repair.
• Ensure compliance with farm policies and procedures.
• Follow safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Receive and execute written work orders or verbal instructions from the supervisor.
• Maintain and repair plumbing and electrical systems in buildings.
• Maintain a parts inventory.
• Repair or replace building materials such as brick, stone, and concrete.
• Assist other departments with moving furniture, supplies, and machinery.
• Understand and follow company policies regarding restricted items.
• Be available for occasional weekend and on-call duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant mechanical/maintenance experience required.
• Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or related field preferred.
• Good mechanical skills, including repair of gearboxes and bearings.
• Knowledge of AC/DC controls and power electricity.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems.
• Experience in fabrication and welding.
• Ability to sketch, read, and understand technical drawings and layouts.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills required.
• Basic computer skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to build strong working relationships and maintain a positive work environment.
