About The Position

The Farm Manager at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Merry Lea Teaching Farm (MLTF), which serves as an educational facility focused on sustainable food production. This role involves managing crop production, supervising staff and volunteers, and coordinating educational programs related to agroecology and food systems. The Farm Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of participants and ensuring the farm's alignment with the center's mission of environmental education.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in agroecology, environmental science, horticulture, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of related experience in farm management or agroecology.
• Valid driver's license and First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of crop production and farm operations.
• Coordinate distribution of harvested crops to students and internal programs.
• Hire and supervise farm staff, seasonal interns, and volunteers.
• Create and manage financial budgets and maintain records.
• Support and deliver educational outreach programs for various age groups.
• Engage in day-to-day farm management tasks including planting, weeding, and animal care.
• Operate light and heavy equipment necessary for farm operations.
• Collaborate with other Merry Lea staff for strategic planning and program assessment.
