About the position
Silver Lion Farms is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of nearly 2400 organic acres, focusing on crop rotations including hemp and alfalfa. This leadership role involves managing staff, planning farming operations, and collaborating with the executive team to ensure successful execution of farming practices.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage day-to-day farming operations on 2400 organic acres.
- Direct and manage all permanent and temporary staff and outsourced resources.
- Train the field team on various tasks and execution of farming operations.
- Work directly with the executive team to plan and lead all farming operations.
- Maintain work orders and records using AgWorld or similar software.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in farming operations.
- Expertise in growing alfalfa, preferably organic.
- Knowledge of plant cycles and field preparation.
- Experience with pivot equipment and labor management.
- Proficient in maintaining work orders and records using AgWorld or similar software.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with crop rotations including hemp and trite.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
