About the position

The Farm Practicum Coordinator at Oberlin College is a full-time, one-year position aimed at supporting the development of a food studies concentration and collaboration on food justice initiatives. The role involves creating educational programs, managing internships, and fostering partnerships with local organizations, all while focusing on themes of ethics, justice, and community engagement in food systems.

Responsibilities

  • Create and teach a course in sustainable urban growing techniques in fall and spring.
  • Develop and coordinate a summer intern training program.
  • Manage Winter (January) Term and summer internship placements in food justice and farming.
  • Organize and facilitate collaborations with local organizations.
  • Supervise student assistants and provide practical training for college students.
  • Develop on-campus growing spaces focusing on food justice goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience growing food.
  • Commitment to working effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
