About the position
The Farm Superintendent will oversee a small organic farm in the Rogue Valley, focusing on maintaining and improving the property while transitioning to a rebuild phase. The role involves planning and executing a long-term strategy for soil improvement and potential revenue-generating crops, with an emphasis on hands-on operational experience and effective management of farm resources.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the organic farm.
- Develop and implement a 5-year improvement plan for the farm.
- Conduct soil testing and apply recommendations for soil amendments and cover cropping.
- Manage farm equipment and water systems effectively.
- Plan and execute maintenance and repairs on the farm.
- Evaluate and adjust farming strategies based on annual reviews.
- Consider and implement a structured composting program.
Requirements
- Hands-on operational experience in farming and farm management.
- Experience with farm equipment and water systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic and integrity.
