About the position
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Farm Technician II to join our exceptional team in Garnett, Kansas. The farm is located in Garnett, KS, and operates on a 4x10 day shift schedule from Monday to Thursday, with working hours from 6 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime opportunities are available, and the pay rate for this position is $22 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Feed animals daily and provide care as needed
- Perform routine blood collection from animals for diagnostic purposes
- Administer routine immunizations and treatments as directed
- Provide basic feed and upkeep for animals on a rotational basis
- Perform routine maintenance on animal care facilities and equipment
- Assist with repairs of buildings, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Operate farm and construction equipment and machinery
- Report safety hazards to the appropriate personnel
Requirements
- Educational background: Equivalent experience to a High School Diploma or GED is acceptable
- No experience necessary; related farm or mechanical experience preferred
- Certification/licensure in welding, plumbing, or related field is a plus
- Mechanical proficiency and ability to operate hand tools and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and walk approximately up to 2 hours a day
