About the position

The Farm to Youth Network Coordinator at the Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) at Michigan State University (MSU) is responsible for developing and growing partnerships in farm to early care and education, farm to school, and farm to institution spaces. This role involves collaboration with statewide stakeholders, creating knowledge products, providing technical assistance, and engaging in outreach efforts to promote sustainable food systems rooted in racial equity.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead facilitation of Michigan Farm to ECE, Farm to School, and Farm to Institution networks.
  • Oversee Michigan Farm to ECE and Farm to School Networks, including event coordination and daily responsibilities.
  • Manage newsletter communications and stakeholder management software.
  • Coordinate social media creation and distribution for Networks in collaboration with the Communications Team.
  • Author content and create knowledge products for the farm to ECE website in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Represent Farm to ECE, Farm to School, and Farm to Institution in relevant stakeholder meetings and events.
  • Write grant proposals and reports to secure funding for ongoing work.
  • Coordinate the Lake Michigan School Food Systems Innovation Hub Grant Technical Assistance, including meetings and outreach.
  • Maintain regular communication about project activities and contribute to relationship-building with partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Theory and Methodology or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences, including public relations and training materials.
  • Experience in supervision, database management, and web development.
  • Valid vehicle operator's license may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least two years of experience in Farm to Youth or food systems programming.
  • Experience with equity-based programming in diverse communities.
  • Strong ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of anti-racism and inclusivity principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with technology and communication tools.
