About the position
The Field Laborer/Nursery Worker at The Fields on Caton Farm, Inc. is responsible for planting and maintaining nursery stock on a 200-acre farm. This role involves various agricultural tasks from soil preparation to harvesting, ensuring the growth of plants for retail, wholesale, and municipal sales.
Responsibilities
- Prepare farm soil conditions for planting.
- Plant starter trees, shrubs, and perennials.
- Irrigate, fertilize, weed, prune, stake, divide, and cultivate plants.
- Harvest trees, shrubs, and perennials for the sales market.
- Operate tractors and tractor-drawn machinery as well as self-propelled machinery.
- Dig, ball, and lift full-grown crops, requiring heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Requirements
- 3 months experience with agricultural crop rotation and harvesting using both hand digging and mechanical methods.
- Ability to operate mid-sized tractors and skid steers.
- Experience with plows, hand pruners, and shovels.
