About The Position

The Fashion Design Intern will work closely with the lead designer to assist in various aspects of the design process. This role involves creating sketches and product prototypes, developing tech packs, and overseeing fabric selection. The intern will also conduct market research to identify trends and directions in fashion design.

Requirements

• Understand fashion design, constructions, patterns, sewing techniques and high management skill
• Must proficient in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Must know how to use sewing machine and hand-sewing
• Must communicate clearly
• Understand high pressure, fast pace, time management and critical thinking
• Must be based in New York/New Jersey Metro area and able to work remotely from time to time

Responsibilities

• Assist lead designer to create sketches and product prototypes throughout the conceptual design process
• Assist lead designer to create official tech packs to be sent to patternmaker
• Assist lead designer to develop color palettes and approve lab-dips
• Assist lead designer to oversee selection of fabric and trim
• Research trends and direction through relevant market research
