About the position

The Fast and Fresh Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the store. This role involves operating the cash register, assisting customers with their needs, and maintaining product quality and supply levels. The clerk plays a vital role in enhancing the shopping experience and supporting the overall operations of the Fast and Fresh department.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, loading/unloading heavy items, and addressing customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to callers.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Operates cash register accurately, scans products, and reports improper cash levels in the cash drawer.
• Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, and processes various payment methods while ensuring accurate transactions.
• Places merchandise in bags or boxes and hands packages to customers.
• Assists with inventory management and checks in delivered merchandise.
• Fills displays and stocks shelves to maintain product availability.
• Ensures proper maintenance of the store lot, including snow removal and trash disposal.
• Cleans and maintains work areas, including registers, restrooms, and break rooms.
• Maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Requirements

• Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials, and copy data from one record to another.
