About the position

The Microelectronic Devices Technical Group Lead at BAE Systems' FAST Labs is responsible for leading a team in the research and development of semiconductor devices and materials. This role involves developing portfolio strategies, mentoring future technology leaders, and ensuring alignment between customer goals and business expectations. The leader will also present technical research effectively and collaborate across multiple facilities in a hybrid work format.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the research and development of semiconductor devices and materials.
  • Develop the portfolio strategy with a focus on research and development growth.
  • Operate as Principal Investigator or Program Manager for programs within the portfolio.
  • Set technical/programmatic direction and guide teams in executing complex research projects.
  • Mentor the next generation of technology development managers and scientists.
  • Align external customer goals with internal business expectations for successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with business areas to strategically align CRAD efforts with future programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of professional experience, Master's Degree with 10+ years, or Doctorate with 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance and ability to obtain TOP SECRET SCI & SAP.
  • Experience in leading teams to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience in new business capture, such as proposal writing and managing proposal efforts.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to perform a variety of related tasks.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with experience presenting technical research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance and ability to obtain SCI & SAP.
  • Demonstrated success in leading the capture of DoD S&T opportunities.
  • Experience executing and supervising research and development programs.
  • Practical understanding of product development and the DoD product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships within business areas and customer community.
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse and complex organization across multiple sites.
