About the position

The Fatherhood Coordinator position at the Community Renewal Team (CRT) is designed to support the agency's mission of promoting responsible fatherhood through various initiatives. This role is integral to the Fatherhood Initiative Program, which aims to provide resources and support to low-income fathers raising children in the Hartford area. The coordinator will be responsible for conducting workshops, facilitating support groups, and implementing an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Fatherhood Strategic Framework. The position requires active participation in community outreach to recruit participants and engage with local providers to enhance the program's effectiveness. In this role, the Fatherhood Coordinator will conduct assessments to identify the needs and goals of fathers, develop service plans, and maintain accurate client records. The coordinator will also prepare and submit reports in a timely manner, ensuring that all activities are documented and evaluated for effectiveness. Regular attendance at mandatory training sessions and community meetings is essential, as is the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the target population. The position emphasizes the importance of building relationships with fathers and their families, providing them with the tools and support necessary to achieve their goals. The Fatherhood Coordinator will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive community environment that encourages responsible parenting and family stability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach and participant recruitment to reach low-income fathers raising children in the CRT catchment area.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate advisory group provider meetings, including recruiting community providers and arranging guest speakers.
  • Facilitate designated curriculum workshops and support groups for fathers.
  • Conduct fatherhood assessments and develop service plans using the CRT Steps to Success case management system.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date paper and electronic client records, including case notes and evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports on program activities and participant progress.
  • Participate in community meetings and outreach activities.

Requirements

  • High School Education Required.
  • One (1) year of experience working with families or fathers, or participating as a peer within the family's social services system.
  • Active certification in good standing with a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic MS Office and computer skills for reporting and data entry.
  • Knowledge of Hartford areas where clients are not receiving services.
  • Proven experience working with families and fathers within the social services system.
