About the position

The FDC Placement & Transition Specialist position at the Florida Women's Reception Center involves professional work in counseling and testing inmates. The role focuses on conducting educational programs, administering tests, and maintaining educational records to support inmates' educational and transition needs.

Responsibilities

• Conducts education orientation programs for new arrivals.
• Administers and scores achievement and placement tests.
• Responsible for the administration of General Education Development (GED) testing, ensuring proper security and compliance with testing procedures.
• Maintains educational records, test scores, and education progress of inmates.
• Ensures computerized educational records and reports are current.
• Assists in the development of individualized education and transition plans.
• Interviews and counsels inmates regarding education, transition, and personal needs.
• Records and recognizes the achievements of inmates.

Requirements

• A master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's Certificate.
• One (1) year of teaching experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of counseling techniques and educational practices.
• Experience working with incarcerated populations.
