About the position

The Senior Clerk (Duty Warden) position at the Madison Correctional Institution involves providing advanced secretarial services and assisting with the formal grievance process. The role requires maintaining official correspondence, documentation, and records while supporting the Institutional Inspector and Sergeant as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists with all aspects of the formal grievance process, including assigning grievance numbers and classifying them.
• Types responses, obtains signatures, and distributes grievance responses within time limits.
• Maintains a log of all formal grievances.
• Provides advanced secretarial services in preparation of official correspondence and departmental documentation.
• Takes and transcribes minutes of various meetings.
• Types and proofreads daily correspondence and maintains appropriate files and records.
• Acts as office receptionist, receiving and distributing mail and ordering office supplies.
• Inputs various monthly reports.
• Performs general office duties for the Institutional Inspector and Sergeant assigned to the Inspector's Office as needed.
• Performs Staff Assistant's duties in the absence of the Staff Assistant.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in the application, education, work experience, work sample, interview, and/or reference checks.
