The Field Technician plays a crucial role in the daily operations of UES, focusing on the testing of construction materials such as concrete, soils, and asphalt. The technician is responsible for ensuring that all testing equipment is functioning properly and that all project testing requirements are met in compliance with specifications and company policies. The role involves driving to various job sites, conducting tests, returning samples for analysis, and accurately reporting data in a timely manner. The technician must also maintain the company vehicle and communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatchers regarding job status. Physical demands of the job include manual lifting and handling of construction materials, with weights frequently ranging from 35 to 75 pounds. The work environment is primarily outdoors, exposing the technician to various weather conditions and construction site challenges. The technician must be flexible with their schedule, as overnight and weekend work may be necessary to meet business needs. Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials at job sites.
  • Ensure that all testing equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to company policies.
  • Report data accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with applicable testing procedures.
  • Drive to job sites and return samples to the office for testing.
  • Prepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software and communicate findings effectively.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Complete daily time and labor reports as per company policy.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • ACI Level I Certification.
  • Earthworks Construction Inspection Certification - Level I and II.
  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and learn Field Data Collection (FDC) software.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to perform basic calculations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in construction materials testing.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles.
