About the position

The FEA Stress Analysis Engineer at Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is a senior-level engineering consultant role focused on providing engineering consulting services to the energy industry. The position involves working on finite element modeling, stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, and collaborating with project teams led by industry experts. The role is dynamic and requires strong technical skills in structural engineering, particularly in the analysis of power plant components.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct stress analysis of power plant structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, and rotating equipment using classical and numerical methods.
  • Perform stress analyses in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Support and lead the finite element analysis team.
  • Assist in fatigue management programs for various components.
  • Participate in design and repair projects of pressure vessel and piping components.
  • Communicate with clients to provide engineering solutions, results, and analyses.
  • Participate in client, vendor, and internal team meetings.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 8+ years of related engineering experience with a MS degree or 10+ years with a BS degree.
  • Advanced finite element analysis experience of vessels, piping, valves, and other nuclear components.
  • Experience with mechanical, thermal, and modal analyses, and non-linear metallic material models.
  • Advanced skills in ANSYS APDL/Workbench; experience with ABAQUS is a plus.
  • Proficiency in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section III and Section XI).
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE License
  • Experience in writing scripts and subroutines for finite element codes (e.g., Python).
  • Experience in computational fracture mechanics.
  • Experience in CFD simulations in ANSYS.
  • Project management skills.
